Bandhavgarh National Park
Bandhavargh is India’s largest inhabitat place for tigers. The place is known as the land of tigers. Bandhavargarh holds a sacred and mthyological importance. The archaic Bandhavgarh Fort is a gift to this place by Lord Rama. “Bandhav” meaning Brother and “Garh” meaning Fort, hence the name “Brother Fort”, this fort is an offering by Lord Rama to his brother Lakshmana. The fort is believed to be constructed around 2000 years ago but the actual history is still unknown.
Popularly known as the home of tigers. Here, Royal Bengal tigers can be found in abundance and so this place has gained top rank in the world for the highest tiger population.
Located in Umaria district, Madhya Pradesh, this place got recognition as a National Park in 1968. This park is now the most preferred parks for wildlife photography and tracking. The park has four zones with a total area of 1200 sq kms. The center of the park has 12 ponds, historical shrines and remains of some ancient cave.
Apart from highest density of tiger population, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Indian Gaur, Jackel, Sambhar Deer, Barking Deer, Stripped Hyena, Sloth Bear, Bengal Fox can be spotted in the forest. The park has 22 species of mammals and 250 species of fauna.
Few mammals such as Palm Squirrel, Bandicoot Rat, Dhole etc can be spotted occasionally.
The safari starts from 10a.m till 4p.m, as the animals can be flecked during this time. Forest Department will take you for Tiger tracking on Elephants. Elephants will track the lion and take you directly to spot the tiger.

You can also use a state/local transport to reach this place from Umaria, Khajuraho or Jabalpur.
